The Waggon Inn was established in 1882 by Joseph Bradbury and has a long tradition of providing hospitality and accommodation to local residents and visitors to Uppermill. In 'Saddleworth Pubs and their licencees 1674-1998' Rob Magee notes that about 1882 Joseph Bradbury a Stone Merchant became beer retailer at the Waggon Inn High Street Uppermill. By 1887 Joseph's widow Mary was licensee and owner.
When Mary died in 1900 her son Frank took over as licensee and stayed on until 1925 when the family sold the Waggon to Robinson's Brewery Stockport. There are four rooms available. All bedrooms are newly renovated to a very high standard.
