Accommodation Description:

The Durham Ox is an award winning traditional pub complete with flag stone floors exposed beams oak panelling and roaring fires in the main bar during the winter. For those requiring accommodation there are six converted farm cottages that provide a peaceful and charming place to stay with exposed brickwork and original quarry tiles. We pride ourselves on offering friendly and efficient service; showcasing the best of local produce in our menu and stocking an extensive wine list

The Durham Ox is a traditional 300-year old pub family owned for the last 16 years. We are situated in the historic village of Crayke, North Yorkshire with breath-taking views over the vale of York and a charming view up the hill to the medieval Church. Crayke is 25 minutes from York City Centre and in the heart of Herriot Country.

The bar area has an original flag stoned floor and oak panels on the walls as well as the bar fitted by the local woodcarver that bears his name and still takes pride of place. With several roaring fires alight in winter and an outside balcony & courtyard for summer dining the pub oozes atmosphere. Five of the cottages are converted farm buildings.

The Blue & Green Cottages offer a double room with en suite shower room seating area tea and coffee making facilities and L'Occitane toiletries. In addition the Large Cottage Rose is spread over two floors with two bedrooms one super king double and one twin en suite bathroom and separate shower relaxed sitting room and a galley kitchen. The Lavender & Field Cottages both with super king size beds and bathrooms that have a bath and separate shower.

The Studio Suite is located above the pub and offers spacious luxury accommodation with 600sq feet of space a super king bed en suite bathroom sofas flat screen television kitchen and honesty bar. If you like the idea of being slightly more independent yet only a stone's throw from The Durham Ox Ivy Cottage is an ideal option for you with 3 bedrooms it sleeps 6 guests. For Private Parties & Dining; Our private dining area and sitting room for parties up to sixteen offers a comfortable yet smart additional dining option.

The Ox Barn offers a fantastic venue for events up to a 100 guests. We are happy to create bespoke events in the Barn including weddings and conference facilities. The Durham Ox embraces the principle of good food in relaxed surroundings.

The Durham Ox serves Traditional Pub & Modern British food in a relaxed and friendly environment. Breakfast is served in our Burns Bar overlooking the courtyard outside area at the rear of the pub. Breakfast includes a full Yorkshire breakfast with Bloody Marys and Bucks Fizz. Wherever possible we source all our ingredients locally. North Yorkshire offers a fantastic array of produce throughout the seasons.
