On a hilltop high above Brightling is this conical folly, built by Mad Jack Fuller. It seems that Fuller boasted to a guest that he could see the spire of a nearby church from his window. This proved impossible, so Fuller built this folly to resemble a church spire. Legend says that it was built in a single night, though, truthfully it loks far too substantial a project to have accomplished so quickly!
