The original Inn was built as a coaching stop in the late 16 or early 1700's and was called the "Castle Inn" after Comlongon Castle. During its varied history it has even been a Temperance Hotel. The Farmers as we know it today took shape in the early 80's and is largely on the site of the adjoining village shop but the old bar area around the fire is still very much in use today.
We serve traditional cask ales from some of the countrys finest brewers and we have been included in the Camra Good Beer Guide since 1991. We also offer a range of traditional malt whiskies from around Scotland. We offer a good selection of traditional meals as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes.
Our traditional Sunday Roast Beef lunches are always popular and there are various other specials available at the weekends. Like many traditional Inns all our meals are served in the bar which can create a very lively atmosphere especially at weekends.
