The town is on the edge of the magnificent Galloway Forest Park with the world-famous 7Stanes mountain biking trails and there's plenty of excellent fishing on the rivers Cree (which runs through Newton Stewart) the Bladnoch and the Tarff rivers.There are also 32 golf courses in Galloway.
