It would be hard to imagine a more beautiful and tranquil setting for an Inn anywhere in Scotland than the one enjoyed by the House o' Hill Hotel on the edge of the Galloway Forest in Bargrennan near Glentrool, Dumfries and Galloway.
Owners Karen and Helen truly understand that an attractive setting and comfortable accommodation are only part of what makes an inn somewhere you want to come back to time and time again. Since taking over the House o' Hill in March 2010 they've tastefully refurbished all areas of the hotel. But what makes the House o' Hill truly special is the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere that greets weary visitors looking for rest and relaxation away from the stresses of modern urban living.
The House o' Hill is in one of the most unspoiled areas anywhere in Britain yet is just over two hours' drive from the M6 motorway at Carlisle and around 45 minutes' drive from Cairnryan ferry port with regular sailings to and from Ireland. The House O'Hill currently has two guest rooms which have been recently refurbished to a high standard and offer very comfortable accommodation. We have feather duvets and pillows along with Egyptian cotton bedding to help ensure a good night of restful sleep.
Also available is our Cottage suite which can now sleep up to 5 people with the addition of a contract sofa-bed.

We're passionate about food which is why all our dishes are prepared using only the very finest local fresh produce. As Scotland's larder Galloway produces excellent beef lamb and dairy products whilst the area boasts some of the very best salmon rivers anywhere in Scotland - an angler's paradise! Hardly surprising therefore that we should want our dishes to reflect this. We offer good wholesome food with a touch of creativity and always truly delicious!
