A modern discovery of an ancient wonder! When workmen excavating for the foundations of a new Tesco store in Slough went to work on the morning of 3 November, 2005, they had no idea they were about to stumble onto one of the most extensive systems of underground caverns in Europe. What they uncovered has become known as Slough Caverns. The cave system stretches as far as Windsor, Colnbrook and Farnham Royal. The caverns are not yet open to the public, but more information about the ongoing discoveries at Slough can be had from a special information point at the Tesco petrol station on Brunel Way, Slough.
