Bankside GalleryThe Bankside Gallery is the home of the Royal Watercolour Society (established 1804), and the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (1880), and serves as a permanent exhibition space for artists of both societies. The RWS was the first society to split off from the Royal Academy in an effort to promote the distinct interests of watercolour artists. The RSPP was founded in an effort to gain recognition for those artists working in the engraving, etching, and mezzotint disciplines. The program of exhibits changes regularly, and in addition to its major focus on modern artists, the Bankside Gallery also maintains an extensive archive and research library (open by prior appointment). The Gallery occupies space quite close to the Tate Modern museum. Admission Accessibility Location
