Greenham and Crookham Common
This former military site has been restored and opened to the public. There are enjoyable walks through heathland, and access to old military sites. Access is via car parks of Bury's Bank Road, Greenham.
The Holies and Lardon Chase
Maintained by the National Trust, this area of woods and downland offers excellent walking and wonderful views. Access via a carpark on Streatley Hill.
Hungerford Common
This common enjoys good views over the Kennet, with good walking access.
Snelsmore Common Country Park
A combination heath and woodland, Snelsmore provides an important nesting ground for several bird species, including nightjar and woodlark. There are toilet and picnic facilities, marked walking trails, bridleways, and cycle tracks. Access is via car parks off Wantage Road (B4494), Newbury.
