Thanet House is a family run guest house in Alum Chine just a short stroll to the award winning seven-mile sandy beach of Bournemouth and Poole and the boutique shops and restaurants of nearby Westbourne village. With the kind of sociable welcome and home comforts that no hotel could ever match; we are confident that Thanet House will be a place that you will want to return to again and again.

Thanet house is ideally located for holidays and short breaks alike. The New Forest is within easy driving distance as is the Dorset Jurassic coastline, Poole?s magnificent harbour and Corfe Castle and steam railway to Swanage. For business visitors it offers an idyllic place to stay within minutes of numerous banking, finance, insurance and conference centres, and is just twenty minutes from international sea and air ports, national rail and motorway links

Thanet House was built in 1884 as part of the Alum Chine Estate. Originally the mill owner?s family home it stood on open heath land. The mill no longer remains but the beautiful woodland chine has been preserved and laid with footpaths offering a picturesque walks to the beach and cliff top

Our home is your home, and we believe your stay should be as comfortable as possible. Our six double / twin rooms and two single rooms all have ensuite or private bathrooms. Every room is equipped with freeview television, clock-radio, hairdryer and complimentary fairtrade tea and coffee

Free wireless internet is available throughout the house, and you are also invited to borrow books and DVDs from our own collection. (Sorry but we don?t have facilities for pets). We are fully licenced and drinks can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own room, out on the sunny terrace or in front of the fire in the sitting room on colder evenings

By Train|Train|0|Bournemouth Railway Station is a 15 minute taxi ride from Thanet House, with direct trains from London Waterloo, Scotland and the North. By Coach|Coach|0|Coaches from London Victoria run direct to Westbourne, just 500m from our doorstep! The West|Road|100|Head for Poole on the A35. At junction with B3065 (Liverpool Victoria gyratory) take second exit B3065 The Avenue. Take first left (at traffic lights) onto Western Road. Take first right (at roundabout) onto Alumhurst Road. Drury Road is second on the left. London and the North|Road|100|Take the M25, then the M3, M27 and A31 to Ringwood. Follow the A338 becoming A35 to Bournemouth. At junction with B3065 (Liverpool Victoria gyratory) take second exit B3065 The Avenue. Take first left (at traffic lights) onto Western Road. Take first right (at roundabout) onto Alumhurst Road.
