Homelands Guest House, Barnard Castle

Accommodation Description:
Visitors return year after year to enjoy the beauty of the North Yorkshire countryside from the luxurious comfort of Homelands. We are multi-lingual : English, German, Danish, Afrikaans, (French).

Homelands is situated within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake district, as well as the shopping centres of Newcastle, Metro Centre and Harrogate. The main attractions in the town are the castle ruins and the Bowes Museum. The A1 Motorway is 20 minutes away

Barnard Castle has lots of interesting shops including several Antique shops. Short walk from the town centre is Bowes Museum, a very grand structure, which has very close ties to the late Queen Mother. Inside the famous feeding silver swan

About 8 miles from the town centre is High Force, the largest waterfall in England. Only 6 miles away is Raby Castle with its large deer park and gardens. Raby Castle is probably one of the best examples of its kind in the country

There are several reservoirs in the area; the furthest away is Cow Green about 12 miles. Most have day fishing permit subject to having a fishing licence. Way marked walks are in abundance all over the area with several quaint old-fashioned public houses offering good quality food conveniently situated after a thirsty stroll

For those wanting a longer journey, the Lake District is only 1 hour’s drive away. Evening meals avaliable by request. WE ARE MULTI-LINGUAL : English, German, Danish, Afrikaans, (French)
