An early 19th century church with its origins firmly in the medieval period, St Peter's is built of red sandstone to a cruciform plan. The most interesting feature are the cast iron windows, made in the foundries at nearby Coalbrookdale.

The tower of St Leonard's parish church can be seen from almost everywhere in Bridgnorth. The original church on the site was likely Saxon, and there was certainly a church founded here around 1190. However, the current building is almost entirely a product of a Victorian restoration in 1862.

St Martin's has had a chequered past. It was built as a chapel of ease in the 12th century, but later became a full-fledged parish church. Portions of the medieval church were demolished, leaving the chancel, which became the south aisle of a new church in 1866.

The historic abbey church of St Peter and St Paul at Shrewsbury will need no introduction to readers of the popular Brother Cadfael novels by Ellis Peters. This wonderful medieval church is the only substantial remain of Shrewsbury Abbey, a great medieval monastery beside the River Severn.

The only remaining completely medieval church in the historic town of Shrewsbury, St Mary's stands on a rise in the centre of town, opposite the main post office. The church spire - said to be the third highest of any parish church in England - can be seen for miles around.

It is hard to believe that this quiet little church is only a mile or so from the busy centre of Telford. St James dates to the Norman period, and retains several Norman features.

When the medieval parish church of Longford was pulled down in 1803 to make way for a new church, the south aisle was spared. The aisle lives on as the Talbot Chapel, so named because it contains a wonderful monument to Thomas Talbot (d. 1686) and his wife (d. 1706).
