Eastgate Clock
Travel Information and nearby accommodation
The Eastgate Clock was erected to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Apparently public opinion was divided over the clock design - some thought it overly fanciful, even garish, and out of step with its surroundings. However, over the course of time the Eastgate Clock has become one of the symbols of Chester; and according to the city's tourism website, the second most photographed clock in Britain, after Big Ben.
