This luxury, detached, stone built barn conversion with a hot tub sleeps 7 people in two acres of grounds, just outside the historic market town of Bishops Castle in the South West Shropshire Hills.
The Old Barn is a luxurious detached stone built detached barn conversion located close to the owners' home in two acres of grounds, just five minutes stroll from the centre of the historic town of Bishops Castle and a superb real ale pub. This holiday property successfully blends original character with contemporary fixtures and fittings including a covered hot tub that is lit up at night. The accommodation includes three bedrooms, one of which has en-suite facilities and a luxury four poster bed; "all body" jet showers; an attractive walnut kitchen, and a convivial dining hall and living room. There is also a large patio area for enjoyable al fresco eating and relaxing after a long days exploring.

A great location and a lovely cottage. The was kitchen fully stocked with plates/glasses/cutlery and it was great to have a washer dryer and 2 bathrooms. All rooms were a brilliant size, even the bunk-bed room! There were plenty of games to keep us busy when it rained or if we weren't in the hot tub.
Wonderful property in a very quiet area with great access to walks in the surrounding hills. Everything you need to have a relaxing time in the countryside.
A mixed review
This is quite a hard review to write, as although there are some bad points, there are also some good, so opinion in our minds is divided.
Inside, the property was very spacious & well equipped. Although the kettle was thick of limescale and we felt that we could not use it during our stay. (We boiled water on the hob instead) The other facilities were fully functional and the shower in the main bathroom was a pleasure to use. Overall the cleanliness was very good, the microwave was a downfall, which needed a good clean out.
The house is warm and cosy 24/7, the king size bed is extremely comfortable and the TV?s in each room was a bonus for us.
There is a folder for the guests, to show how to work certain items in the house, including descriptions of each of the TV remote controls, except one, the control for the Sky box. Which is unfortunate, as the writing on the buttons has been worn off, so to figure out which button does what, you have to randomly press them to see what happens.
The view to the back of the property was disappointing, with a dump truck, a digger and an abandoned car being in the main view to the back of the house. (Although this may well be out of control of the owners)
The rear of the property is quite exposed, with the fencing broken most of the way round, ideally this would be fully fenced with some climbing plants to provide privacy.
This area, also housing the hot tub, is a very large space, we didn?t book the property for the advantage of the hot tub but we did use this 3 times and found it a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.
There are plenty of choices of chairs and benches, plus a sizable table. The let down to this is the block paving, really as it?s only the start of the season, we feel it should have been power washed to remove the staining from bird droppings and the weeds would then also be eliminated.
The house is in a very quiet location and the majority of the time you can only hear the birds tweeting. The advertisement of the property indicates that during 8am & 9am there are some light business vehicles moving around near the property.
In reality, the moving of the vehicles is absolutely no issue at all, it?s the bang bang banging of the umpteen times the vehicle doors are banged shut. Highlighted possibly by the fact that normally it is so quiet.
The owners did come to visit shortly after we arrived and showed us which buttons to use on the hot tub and advised of walks shown in the leaflets in the house. Which was a help to us. Very friendly people who would be happy to assist when needed.
The property itself is perfectly located for access to the town and for local walks.
The owners were wonderful hosts, they made our Christmas perfect. We particularly liked the fully equipped kitchen which made cooking Christmas dinner and baking with the children so easy. We love the old barn so much that we have already booked for Christmas next year.
Everything was ideal, from the hot tub to the sky package. The cottage was great and the owners friendly and helpful.
