Pet Friendly with lots of activities in the area
Lets try and get this right and give an honest review. Both my wife and I and our big white German Shepherd arrived at 'The Larch' in the village of Weem the last week of July 2018. Parking was absolutely no problem and collecting the keys was made easy as per Mr Wagstaff's instructions. This is an up-side-down cottage with the bedroom on the lower floor with a large walk-in shower and loo next door. The linen and bedding were clean and fresh with 2 complete set of towels. There is the option to wash towels and clothing if required, so its up to you if you feel the need for more towels; what we had was ideal! Upstairs is the main living area with an area to eat at the table and a small kitchen, suitable for our purposes. This is not a luxury cottage but one that is used for the likes of walkers, anglers etc We enjoyed staying here. My only 'gripe' was not with the cottage but the local eating and drinking places nearby....they all allow dogs in somewhere in their pubs etc but they don't advertise the facts as 'Dog Friendly'.(Weem and Aberfeldy pubs etc take note) Anyway, we had a grand time staying at the lodge and would consider coming back as there is so much to do in the area....you might even see Ed Sheeran in the local pub if your lucky when he's up visiting his friend in Aberfeldy.

Lovely but smelly
Two of us stayed for a week and used the cottage as a base to visit sights in the area. It's a lovely cottage with awell equipped kitchen and a comfy spacious bedroom. The shower room is large and has excellent water pressure. It makes a great base to explore the highlands and surrounding area. There are also attractions nearby, Dewers distillery and the Scottish Crannog Centre to name just two. Our only complaint was the smell, we knew the cottage was pet friendly but there was a strong smell of dog throughout the cottage. We had to keep the windows upstairs open constantly, luckily for us it was warm and this wasn't a major problem, but had it been winter and cold we would have needed the heating on and windows closed. This would have made the smell unbearable. I think the building needs a deep clean and a good airing to solve the problem. (I've been a dog owner all my life and I understand they smell, however I don't expect it in a holiday rental). The cottage was however clean and their were very few traces of pet hair. I'd recommend it as a place to stay but bring an air freshener.

Handy location for walking
The country cottage is adequate for two people. The bathroom is spacious and the water pressure very good, making the shower excellent. The bedroom is comfortable and there is little night-time traffic. The lounge/kitchen is spacious enough and the kitchen, although basic, serves its purpose. The house is warm and there is good radiator heating if required. The only place summer heating may be required is the bathroom underfloor, as this faces north. However, even if the thermostat is left at 40 degrees, it doesn't come on. It is pleasant on the front patio on a sunny day as it faces south. There is a lovely view from the east lounge window over the church to the steep, wooded hill.

It was a home from home. Very comfortable and relaxing, kitchen easy to use and all necessary facilities available. Views from all the windows were amazing. Loads of wildlife and easy parking. Highly recommended.
