awful lodge
this was a special holiday as my son was 18 and we wanted a holiday with him and grandparents. But spoilt as when we opened the door the smell of musty hit you down stairs the worst, then there was cob webbs in all bedrooms and bathrooms,Sofa stained and pillows, decking area filthy. We got the vacum out which was hard to lift as full to the top so we had to empty this before we could try and make the place better but the smell from the vacum was awful we had to go and get shack an vac, We complained to reception who told us to speak with house keeper which we did and we also had to ask for extra bedding as our stay should of been 2 weeks, but when we changed our bedding the duvet and pillows was very stained we have lots of pictures. WE CAME HOME EARLY AS COULD NOT STAND IT. The site is very hard to walk about not sutiable at all. DO NOT GO TO TO THIS LODGE. AND SYKES WILL NOT HELP US AT ALL WHO WE BOOKED THIS LODGE THROUGH.

Shabby
Booked for three adults and two children, arrived on a Friday midday, our first task was to wash any plates and cutlery that we were going to use, the carpet in the lounge area was covered in pet hair, the outside veranda I don't think has been cleaned this year still got a dead Xmas tree in a pot. Not really suitable for anyone with mobility problems, upside down lay out, so had to go downstairs for the loo. The walk in shower didn't soak away properly had to call house keeping to sort out. Not sure what the facilities were like, son took granddaughters to the inside pool which has a deep end of about 3 foot no good for serious swimming, the bar area was very uninviting, no atmosphere. Sound like wingers but after the family left on the Sunday, we gave in and headed home on the Wednesday I wouldn't recommend this property.

A truly awful experience
My family and I have never found cause to complain about a holiday rental before. This property was so run down and standards of cleanliness were so poor, we did not remain for the duration of our booking. The photographs of the interior and exterior of the lodge on the website were proven to be outdated and belied the true state of affairs. Downstairs smelt damp and mouldy, and upstairs reeked of old grease. The whole property lacked TLC - curtains hanging off poles; lumpy mattresses; old, worn bedding; one bedroom wasn't even made up prior to our arrival. Without looking particularly hard, we found hairs where you wouldn't want to find them: the bath, sinks, toilets and beds were all replete with a range of specimens. Even the surroundings (described as 'beautiful' on the website) were drab and tired, so the lure of the newish-looking hot tub was compromised. We received a full refund but had to relocate under our own steam for the rest of the week to Devon - thankfully, we had an amazing time there! We've learnt a valuable lesson - the owners of this property were abroad, and problems had to go through the booking agents which made things more complicated to sort out.

Perfect holiday for us
We stayed with two dogs and two children under 10 years old and the lodge and park were just perfect. This lodge is lovely, spacious and clean with a lovely location within the park not too far from the main reception and leisure facilities. It also has a fab balcony that you can sit out on and enjoy the peacefulness and hear the small brook that runs just past the lodge. It had everything we needed and more and the facilities people are wonderful and ensured everything was perfect throughout our stay. I think this lodge is one of the better ones on the park and also had the added bonus of a lovely hot tub which was perfect for relaxing in - I would definitely recommend this holiday!
