This simple and moving cemetary is the final resting place for Americans killed in World War II while serving in the UK. The site of 30 acres was donated by the University of Cambridge. Over 3800 Americans are buried here, and the Wall of the Missing at the entrance lists the names of over 5000 more whose bodies were never recovered or identified. There is a small chapel on the site.

The Bishop's Palace in Ely was built in the late 15th century. The building consists of two wings joined by a central hall. In the early 16th century a 100 foot long gallery was added. Look for the coat of arms of the A family above the second story canopy. This was added as a tribute to Bishop Alcock, who had the palace built. In the garden is the oldest plane tree in England, planted by Bishop Gunning more than 300 years ago.

Clare College is the second oldest among Cambridge Colleges, having been founded in 1326, with the later aid of an endowment by Lady Elizabeth de Clare. In the 17th century and for a century following, Clare underwent a major rebuilding, with the present Old Court taking shape. Unsupported Clare tradition holds that it was the early classical pioneer architect Inigo Jones who was responsible for making Old Court the harmonious composition it is today.

Remains of a simple 14th century chantry chapel. The chapel is unfurnished within, but offers a good example of a complete medieval building with little alteration. It may originally have been established as part of a hospital dedicated to St John the Baptist, occupied by a prior and brethern adhering to the Austin rule.

Emmanuel College was founded in 1584, but the most striking and attractive building is the college chapel, built in 1677 by Sir Christopher Wren. The main entrance is from St. Andrew's Street, past a versy small garden space. The front is a neo-classical addition of 1769-75, built by James Essex.
