Idyllic setting needs a good clean This is a lovely place in an idyllic setting beside the river BUT this place really needs some
serious cleaning & TLC. On arrival we found used teabags & a dirty spoon left on the worktop we also noticed there were some food spillages on the worktop, I started to clean it all down I moved the teapot to clean & it felt heavy so I looked inside to find it was still half full of cold tea plus teabags! There were greasy marks all over the glass door of the oven & microwave door & under the cooker hood wasn't very clean,?we felt the?place hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests so I swept the floor to find loads of dirt & dog hairs !!
the inside of the kitchen window was filthy I thought it was on the outside but the window cleaner came & it was on the inside? I?looked for cleaning products in cupboard under sink to find dirty USED wet wipes! this is?NOT what you expect on arrival to have to turn around?do the cleaning surely these things should all been checked & cleaned before our arrival .
In the wardrobe was a clothes horse with the sheets from the previous visitors all washed, folded & hanging on it so it shouldn't have been a surprise when we went to bed to find the sheets on the bed smelt foisty not surprising if they hang up to dry for a week?inside a closed wardrobe!! The sheets also had stains on them they were mocha in colour but there were green stains & some bleach marks plus black marks like mascara on the pillow cases NOT NICE ! The crockery & glasses all needed washing up before we could use them , the glasses look as though they've not been washed for sometime ! The shower head was cracked, dirty & scaled up there was also black scum around the shower door & behind the
sink tap, paint was peeling off the ceiling over the shower?& the ?towels smelt awful like wet dog!! There was a washing machine & freezer in the shed , the washing looked clean but the freezer was disgusting it had black mould on the inside of the door! it was definitely there for guests to use as it had a note on the door to leave door open after use !! The garden area is neglected, pots with dead plants in them & the big pot down by the river is broken?, the decking in the boat area definitely needs some attention as some of the boards are very wobbly not good at the riverside ! Be warned what you see in the photos advertising this property?is?NOT what you get, I think the photos are from the previous owner ! sofas,?bed & coffee table are all different & there is no small bridge in the garden going from the grass across to the decked area by?the waters edge DENPER0905 2016-10-10
Lovely setting on the water. Loved all the ducks and swans. Kitchen was just the right size and the ittle table and chairs was delightful for eating. Very quiet marina and neighbours. Looking forward to booking to come back next year. Mrs Peterson 2016-07-16
We liked the quiet countryside location and wildlife surrounding Riverside Lodge. Mr Gidlow 2016-02-28
peace quiet and tranquility Lovely stay, the lodge has a modern kitchen and is light and airy with amazing view from both inside the lodge and from the much used balcony. We were blessed with some lovely eveings so it is ideal to sit in the evening sun on the balcony. The lodge would benefit from some TLC in the cleaning/manitenance departments but was more than adequate for our our stay. The bed and sofas are different from the pictures advertised and no DVD as stated(brought to the attention of the owner) The lock is an issue and the decking in the garden needs some attention. Take care when using the boat as it can tip very easily. This property is not suitable for disabled due to the steps that need negotiating to enter the property. The garden is lovely when you have a dog and so you can sit by the edge of the water and feed the ducks and swans. Great for bird watching too. Lovely walks in and around Isleham and trips to Ely, Wicken Fen and Thetford Forest are a must. Despite small grumbles would still be happy to return. lorrainerolls 2015-06-14
The scenery was stunning, and the marina itself, but the use of the rowing boat was a real high point! Loved it! Miss Evans 2015-05-13
