RECENT CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Disappointing
The cottage itself needed some TLC and then would have been really nice. No draining board/stained T towels/cobwebs and old bedding. There was a bench/table in the garden which had rotted to the point it was quite dangerous. However the main gripe was the extractor fan from the pub. which was just at the back of the garden It belched out acrid fumes at least twice a day so we had to keep the door closed. The situation of the cottage was fantastic for experiencing the North dales and we did have a meal at the Old Hall Inn one evening which we really enjoyed. Overall we enjoyed our stay but were disappointed having spent quite a lot of money the standards were poor to say the least.

The Cottage was warm and comfortable with an enclosed garden for the dogs. There were easy walks from the cottage with lovely views of the dales.

TERRIBLE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT
Booked here for three nights, looking up on TripAdvisor, I found it worrying and very strange, that this cottage had no reviews at all from Sep 2014, on starting my review it said your stay has to be verified by the owner before the review is published,, arrrrrrr now this explains it, I do not have a problem being verified which I have never had to do before, but obviously the owner by checking the name and the dates will know that the review will not be very favorable to say the least because of my complaints on our say, and might ignore verification, THE REVIEW On arriving at the pub / cottage , the area outside was filthy with a dish full of cigarette ends, see pic,, the log burner wasn't lit as requested as it was quite cold I decided to have a hot bath,,,, or not, the water was Luke warm, called to the pub to tell the barman who was as helpful as he could be and said he would get someone to look at it, because things were not looking great I thought I would have a glass of wine to calm me down, I took 13 glasses from the cupboard, each one of them absolutely filthy see pic,,, no wifi either,,,,an off duty fire man who is the repair man tried his best with both wifi and water, but it didn't really improve,, the logs for the fire were left outside so soaking wet and wouldn't light, the windows were that damaged that you could see through them see pic,,,, I know its an old building but glass isn't protected by grade 2 listing buildings, we complained to the manager a young girl,, who was very apologetic, we rang hotels in the village as were that upset, but they were full, my sons were having a party on the Saturday at home, so was stuck there really. I explained how upset I was we also rang Sykes cottages who we booked and told them and the manager that we would be leaving early, she promised a refund for the missed night and all the problem,, decided to try the shower instead, old fashion box on the wall, which had a mind of its own which went through a cycle of freezing to scalding, the cottage has an enclosed garden, on venturing onto the grass to get a signal on my phone, the garden was absolutely full of dog excrement, it was everywhere, see pic,,,, the hoover was absolutely full of dog hairs, see pic ,,, have mentioned the word cottage a few times, this isn't a cottage its a very dark unwelcoming shed, we haven't heard anything from the owner, but sykes cottages have been very good,,, please don't go here

The cottage was warm and cosy. We liked being next to the excellent, friendly pub serving good food. The cottage, pub and the beautiful village of Grassington were all extremely dog friendly.
