This semi-detached cottage, which was once the village fire station, is situated on the outskirts of Sledmere and sleeps four people in two bedrooms.

Call Out Cottage was once used as a fire station and is set on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds village of Sledmere, eight miles from Driffield. This cottage sleeps four people and has two bedrooms, consisting of one double with an en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath and a twin with en-suite shower room. The cottage also has an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area, as well as a ground floor shower room. Outside there's ample off road parking and an enclosed patio with furniture. Call Out Cottage is a great base for walks in the area, as well as visiting many attractions that can be found nearby.

Good but ...
We stayed for a family get together over Christmas. The cottage was beautifully clean and the kitchen was well equipped but there was nothing to recall the previous fire station in Call Out Cottage. We found the beds comfortable but the bedrooms were somewhat sparsely furnished with no bedside tables, chairs etc to place clothes and belongings on overnight in the twin and there was a lack of lights easily reachable from the bed in the double. The sofas were comfortable but very low indeed. We ended up having to leave after two of our three days as the staircase has no handrail on the lower section and the shower in the ensuite has no anti-slip provision in the twin, making it unsafe for my elderly mother. It is also important to note that there is no mobile service on either EE or O2 (though we were told there was on Vodaphone).

Excellent accommodation- absolutely ideal for 4 people plus small dog. The private courtyard was good with outdoor seating.

Liked the overall appearance of the interior, the quality of everything was superb. A truly beautiful cottage.

Loved the cottage itself, it was really nicely decorated and had everything we needed. It was in a good location to explore Yorkshire's coast, moors and dales. The village itself was lovely with plenty of walks to go on.

Well Appointed & Spotlessly Clean
First impressions matter & we weren't disappointed. This old fire station has been refurbished to a very good standard & was spotlessly clean on our arrival. It's in a good location if you want to explore the East Yorkshire coast &/or the Nth Yorks Moors by car, but an even better location if you just want to switch off & confine yourselve's to the village. Sledmere is a dog walkers paradise even if the estates deer park signs say no dogs. There are soo many rabbits that you need to keep 'em on the lead anyways. The local pub is very good, very friendly & very popular, so you may need to book if eating out.
