Tired and Tatty
We have thought long and hard about how to review this cottage as we want to be fair. For the money we paid we were frankly, disappointed. The photographs on the website do not accurately reflect the current state of maintenance and d?cor. The decoration, mostly woodchip paper and emulsion is tired, the carpets marked and stained, the wardrobe in the master bedroom has a broken base, the grouting in the bathroom is grimy and the sofas in the living room are stained and bobbly. The placemats in the dining area have damaged surfaces, the microwave is not working and the property does not have the potted plants on the exterior as shown on the pictures (any potted plants within the back yard are dead/uncared for). A sock belonging to a previous occupant was next to the dishwasher. Having said all that, as we wish to be fair, the beds are very comfortable with clean white linen and the kitchen well equipped and finished to a high standard. The property also contains original, well restored fire places which are lovely. Other positive points include a supply of books and guides, board games, reliable WIFI and a modern TV (unfortunately though no remote control). The bins to the rear of the property were overflowing and there seemed to be no order as to what rubbish was put in to which bin. We felt this might have been due to there being no clear instructions as to what goes into each bin and what to do with the bins on collection day. We decided (mainly due the excellent beds and bedding) to simply get on with or holiday and make the best of what was available. Making an issue of things during or stay would simply have created stress for us on what was our relaxing time away. We loved the location and proximity to both Windermere and Bowness and will certainly be returning to the area.

The cottage was warm and welcoming. It was fully equipped and there wasn't anything we needed that wasn't supplied. It was very well decorated and furnished to a high standard.
Mrs Burt

The cottage was very cosy and the beds were really comfortable. The location was good with a park for the kids just up the road. The cottage had everything you need, had a great weekend thank you.
Mr Norton

The cottage was really beautiful and very clean. The location was great. There was a lovely park at one end of the street and in the centre of Windermere. A nice 6 mile walk into Bowness which was fabulous.
