Bewcastle Cross The Bewcastle Cross is a superbly carved late 7th or early 8th century cross shaft, standing in the churchyard of a remote Cumbrian hamlet. The beautifully crafted decoration on the cross is probably the finest example of pre-Norman carving in England, and bears comparison to the superb Ruthwell Cross, across the border in Dumfries and Galloway.

We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences  

Blackwell, the Arts and Crafts House A striking Arts and Crafts house overlooking Lake Windermere, finished by architect MH Baillie Scott in 1900. Blackwell is one of the best surviving unaltered examples of the Arts and Craft style buildings in England.

 Bow Bridge
We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences  

A 15th century three-arch bridge built by the monks of nearby Furness Abbey across Mill Beck for the purpose of accessing New Mill, a watermill belonging to the abbey, which once stood on the south west bank of the beck. The bridge stands on an old packhorse route to the abbey.

 Clifton Hall
We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences We took some photos of this location that we'd like to share with you  

Clifton Hall Clifton Hall is a 15th century pele tower, or fortified house, located in a small village south of Penrith. The pele is the only remaining part of a much larger manor owned by the Wybergh family. The tower was ransacked by Jacobite soldiers on the eve of the Battle of Clifton Moor in 1745, the last battle fought on British soil.

 Gosforth Cross
We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences  

Gosforth Cross In the churchyard of St Mary's church in the little Cumbrian village of Gosforth stands on of the real treasures of pre-Conquest England. This is the so-called Gosforth Cross, a slender column of local red sandstone carved into a Scandinavian cross fully 14.5 feet high.

Hawkshead Grammar School Hawkshead Grammar School is an attractive Elizabethan school built by the Archbishop of York, Edwin Sandys. The most famous pupil of the school was poet William Wordsworth, who attended here with his brother, John. The school houses displays oon Wordsworth and other pupils and shows how the students were taught in days gone by.

We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences We took some photos of this location that we'd like to share with you  

Hawkshead Old Courthouse A small 15th century building which once formed part of Hawkshead Hall, owned by the powerful monks of Furness Abbey. The building consists of a gateway arch, with a room above the arch where court proceedings were held. The building is supported by a long, sloping buttress.

 Hill Top
We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences We took some photos of this location that we'd like to share with you  

Hill Top Tiny 17th century house where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her children's stories. It has been preserved exactly as it was when the author left it, right down to her china. A large number of personal effects and mementoes are to be found throughout the house. Many parts of the house were used by Potter for scenes in her books, and copies of her drawings in various rooms show how she incorporated pieces of furniture from the house into her scenes.
