A lovely tasteful retreat!
We spent a lovely weekend in a beautifully decorated cottage not far from the center of Skipton. The cottage is thoughtfully set out inside and we were delighted with all the amenities that were on offer. Biscuits and tea were kindly left on arrival and we had a cosy stay in a quiet cottage.
Comfortable, excellent location for town.
Woodman Cottage is lovely and cosy, it is decorated lovely and has everything that you need. It is only a short walk from the town. Keelham farm shop is definitely worth a visit, we were pleasantly surprised by the prices. We would definitely like to return and would highly recommend it.
Lovely cottage but with contemporary decor. Great location
This is a great little cottage for a couple. Very central once parked up you can forget about the car for your stay. Lovely contemporary decoration gives a light and airy feel. Only downside was lack of outside space and lacked some of the basics you expect (e.g. hand wash, kitchen roll, salt and pepper). That said I would still recommend to friends and family.
Nice stay but lacking some essentials
The decor and facilities of the cottage are very good. It's comfortable and only a few minutes walk to the canal and High Street. There are plenty of great places to eat and drink.
We enjoyed our stay but had a couple of significant issues.
Firstly, the cottage lacked some basic amenities - such as toilet roll. One and a half rolls of loo paper is not enough to last a week. Also there was only one large towel each and not shower/bath mat. Considering the bathroom has a wooden floor and gets quite slippy, this is an important health and safety omission. As for loo rolls... well, we're not camping out - we are renting furnished accommodation at a significant price and expect enough supplies of the basics to last the time we are there.
Thankfully the girl who cleans brought some more towels but we were told that the owners only allow her to put out so much of everything and if she provided more we "could be charged extra". Luckily we were not charged anything more.
Also there is a major issue with parking. There is a very limited area in front of the cottage which has space enough for 4 cars at most. But when the spaces are full 2 vehicles are effectively blocked in. We were told the spaces were "first come first served". However, a salon adjacent to the cottage got quite shirty with us when we dared to take up one of the spaces - so much so we were knocked up out of bed as asked to move.
Needless to say we felt pressured and were wary from then on.
That said, we did enjoy our stay and as mentioned the cottage is kitted out very well .. has a full kitchen .. comfy bed .. and good wifi.
The cottage was first class and in an excellent location.
