Family holiday!
We had a wonderful week at this cottage- the views are spectacular and it's in a handy location for Whitby, Pickering etc for some great day trips. I formed the opinion that the cottage us been very well refurbished but less well maintained- one of the showers was evidently broken when we arrived so we had 1 shower all week between 7 people- not ideal. We reported it as soon as we were able but no repairs were completed before we left. Similarly, the last guests had broken the washing machine so there was nowhere to dry clothes- including a lack of washing line or clothes horse. The garage doors are very temperamental so don't stand next them when trying to close them! The first floor shower, when working leaks onto the bedroom carpet so beware of squishy patches and suddenly wet feet (I'd advise the owners to look into this as we couldn't use that shower, yet the carpet was still sodden). The key lock box code was also different from the one we were given - not the end of the world as we called the agency and obtained the new one, but still not the standard you'd expect from such a highly priced cottage. Overall, this was a lovely place to stay but had some faults. Next time we'll look to stay somewhere nearer (or walking distance for little ones) to the village, but we did enjoy our week in Yorkshire very much.
