Spout Force WaterfallSpout Force waterfall is located in a Forestry Commission managed forest just west of the Whinlatter Pass. The falls are reached via a lovely path through the forest, and there is a viewing platform from the far side of the falls. In spring the volume of water coming down Spout Force can be quite impressive. The view in the photo that accompanies this article is from the far side of the falls. Spout Faorce is actually one of the lesser falls in the National Park in terms of height, as the falls only measure about 30 feet, but the sheer violume of water after rains can make this a spectacular sight. For the best views, come in the fall or winter when there is less greenery to obscure the plume. Access via the B5292. Park in the Forestry Commission parking lot at the western end of the Whinlatter Pass, and follow the yellow painted waymarkers. Total walk distance is about 2 miles. The going is easy. In theory this is a circular walk, but the last time we visited the trail petered out past the viewing platform for the falls, so a safer alternativee is simply to retrace your steps back to the car park.
