Randwick is a small village near Stroud, in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, and is famous for a traditional annual festival, the Randwick Wap. The Wap, which dates back to the medieval period, combines a colourful procession by costumed characters, dunking the mayor in the duckpond, and cheese-rolling. The parish church of St John the Baptist is a medieval building with a 14th-century tower and several good 18th-century monuments. More Hall is a 15th/16th-century house later converted into a convent.

A pretty hillside village in the north Cotswolds, near Broadway. Like so many of its neighbours, Snowshill is full of charm, with lovely golden-toned stone cottages clustered around the sloping churchyard and green. The church of St Barnabas mostly 19th century, though it looks older, and boasts a 15th-century octagonal font.Snowshill is best known for the National Trust's Snowshill Manor, a lovely Tudor manor on the foundations of a medieval monastery.

Somerford Keynes is a pretty village in the Cotswold Water Park south of Cirencester. The village grew up in the late 7th century when the estate was owned by Malmesbury Abbey. A Saxon doorway survives in the 13th-century parish church of All Saints, which stands beside the medieval manor house.

Stanton is a picture postcard Cotswold village in north Gloucestershire, just south of Broadway. There are great tourist attractions here - the attraction is the lovely Cotswold stone cottages and the countryside setting. By the side of the road is a medieval cross shaft, topped by a 17th-century sundial. At one end of the village is Stanton Court, a 17th-century manor. The parish church of St Michael and All Angels dates to the 12th century.

One of the most wonderful sights in the north Cotswolds is coming around the final bend in the road leading into the village of Stanway and seeing the ornate entrance to Stanway Manor beside the medieval parish church of St Peter. It's a classic view, and one that defines Stanway. The manor is home to Stanway Water Gardens and the highest fountain in Europe.

A historic market town in the north Cotswolds, complete with the oldest inn in England (haunted, of course), a village green with medieval stocks, and a plethora of antique shops around the green. Stow-on-the-Wold stands on the old Roman Fosse Way. The town was the site of the final battle of the Civil War, and prisoners were held overnight in St Edward's parish church.

Tetbury is a pretty Cotswold market town with a picturesque 17th-century market hall and an attractive array of Elizabethan and Jacobean buildings. The parish church of St Mary may stand on the site of a Saxon monastery. Tetbury is famous for its annual Woolsack Races, where contestants run (or stagger) up Gumstool Street carrying a sack of wool on their back.
