Winchester Historic Resources Centre
The Historic Resources Centre is the home of the Winchester Museums
Service (contact information below). The Centre is located in Hyde,
a suburb of Winchester, in buildings that were once within the precincts
of medieval Hyde
Abbey.
The Centre serves a repository for historic and archaeological artefacts,
but also opperates a useful public information program. Visitors can
consult the computerised historic sites and mouments records for the
area, and also access the collection of over 30,000 historic photographs.
There is a small temporary exhibition area, which is accessible free
of charge.
