Malmesbury,
Wiltshire
Once the site of the Abbot of Malmesbury Abbey's garden, the garden today covers 5 acres, and is located directly beside the historic ruins of the Abbey. The gardens are built about a 16th century house, and offer richly colourful garden walks throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

Tollard Royal,
Wiltshire
Taking their name from the ancient traditional boundary between Dorset and Wiltshire, the Larmer Tree Gardens are the 1880 creation of General Pitt Rivers. The first privately owned gardens to be opened for public enjoyment, these 11 acres of pleasure grounds overlooking the Cranborne Chase contain an interesting collection of Victorian buildings, from a Roman temple to Nepalese rooms. Camillias and Rhododendrons brighten the woodland spring, while hydrangeas and Eucryphias are striking in midsummer. Lovely autumn colour, providing year-round interest for the visitor.

Stourton,
Wiltshire
Stourhead is reason enough to visit England all by itself. It is a brilliant Arcadian design begun by Henry Hoare, incorporating ever changing vistas around a lake, replete with temples to Apollo and Flora, a rock bridge, a cascade, a pantheon, a thatched cottage, and a grotto. Hoare's vision did not run to the rhododendrons, added by a descendant, which are one of the main reasons people flock to Stourhead today. Best in: spring for rhododendrons, early summer for azaleas, and anytime for a truly wonderful landscape garden experience. My personal favourite among British gardens.

Wilton,
Wiltshire
Four new gardens were added to Wilton by the late 17th Earl: the North Forecourt, Old English Rose, Water and Cloister gardens. However, gardening has a long history at Wilton; starting in 1632 Isaac De Caus set out on an ambitious plan for extensive water gardens, taking advantage of the estate's location on the River Nadder. A Palladian bridge was constructed over the river in 1737 by the ninth Earl.
