One of England's most important medieval castles, Kenilworth was begun by Geoffrey de Clinton about 1120. Edward II abdicated his crown at Kenilworth, and Elizabeth I was royally entertained here. Among the best surviving features of the castle is John of Gaunt's Banqueting Hall, English Heritage, who administer the site, have recreated an authentic Elizabethan garden. ... more
