Wonderful
Our recent stay at School House was wonderful. A relaxing family holiday and the property fulfilled all our expectations again as this is our second visit School House is a listed property restored with is characterful quirks and set in a rural location offering ideal family space and additional bonus of the enclosed paddock at the back which was great for our dogs. The log burning stove is a cosy addition and enjoyed in the evenings as was the large hot tub. The Kitchen has all the required facilities and the large range cooker made catering for our group really easy. There are a few super markets in the near by town of Leek, although we did arrange a food delivery that was very convenient. The Staff that look after the property are more than amenable and nothing is too much trouble for them. The whole house is a comfortable and welcoming base to explore the surrounding peak district. We particully enjoyed our visit to near by Alton Towers, bike riding on the Tissington Trail (we bring our own bikes as there?s a shed that we can store them in) and walking in the beautiful Peak district. The kids went off one evening to the Cinebowl leaving us enjoy drinks in the garden and hot tub! We love School House and we have already booked for next year.

Thank you for a fantastic time. The cottage both inside and out is beautiful and it really is a home from home. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. We really enjoyed the large social living area and the garden and hot tub were very well liked by our party. Thank you for an amazing stay and we hope to return soon. Would recommend to all our family and friends.

Very grubby, in real need of tlc.
We had high hopes for our annual family holiday. The photos on the website look good, but sadly it would appear that these are a few years old. The house was dirty and required considerable cleaning when we arrived, after cleaning the kitchen work surfaces the cloth was brown! We found various items around the property such as a mouldy pizza crust. There was dust almost a centimetre thick on the brick wall in the upstairs bathroom and we had to buy the children slippers because the floors were so dirty. The tumble dryer did not work and the dishwasher was so clogged up we had to hand wash all the dishes. It could be a lovely property if it was managed well. On a more positive note, the location is wonderful and the hot tub was fun. I hate to leave such a negative review, but the School house was not up to the standard that we have come to expect when booking through Sykes Cottages.

We had a fantastic week at the School House. The location of the property was excellent, with great countryside and towns easily accessible. The hot tub was well maintained and warm throughout our stay, and a real asset when entertaining! The bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable. The house was warm and had very good facilities.

We had a great time, the cottage was great, really spacious and homely. In a really nice setting and with easy access to Leek - we walked into Leek and it took about 45 minutes - nice walk too. The jacuzzi was great fun, it was up and running for when we arrived on the Friday.
