We had a friendly welcome from the owner, and it was quite the best cottage we have stayed in. Lots of information was available. It was very well furnished and comfortable, and in a quiet and scenic location. The whole package was very good, and judging by the comments in the visitors book, this appeared to be the opinion of previous holiday occupants.

We had a warm and exceptionally friendly welcome from the cottage owner. It is in a peaceful location and the cottage facilities were excellent. There were many interesting places to visit locally and it was centrally based for visits to other nearby counties. This was our second visit to Riverside Cottage and we look forward to visiting again in the future.

The standard of decor is very high with many homely touches. A very comfortable cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I booked this trip at the very last minute and I am just so grateful that it was available. The property is located in a deep valley in the pennines (so don't expect phone signal!), Rookhope itself is a quaint village, and it is easy to get around to the surrounding areas. The cottage is extremely comfortable, and an ideal place to relax after long walks. I traveled with my two brothers and we all were really happy with the accommodation. It's a great mix of traditional character and modern amenities. If the outdoors are your thing then this is a great base, we went walking every day - you can start at the doorstep or easily travel elsewhere (e.g. Derwent reservoir 20 mins away), I went on a run around the surrounding hills every day also as it was just so spectacular, we also enjoyed renting bicycles from Weardale (10 mins away). Although we did not meet Nicola (property owner) she left a lovely impression, she provided us with perfect directions and information about the immediate area along with a fantastic welcome hamper that I will leave to be a surprise for future bookers! Oh and finally the shower was really powerful, I was reluctant to get out!

The cottage was well equipped and cosy. The bedrooms were designed to a high standard and comfortable. The owner went out of her way to accommodate my children and give ideas of local things to do. We spent our time walking the hills, mining for gems in the river and enjoying the wildlife which was in its abundance. We look forward to returning.
