What a treasure
If you want peace and quiet, this cottage is for you. Although it faces onto a road, the traffic wasn't too much of a disturbance (though when driving out of the driveway onto said road, you have to be careful as some vehicles can come over the brow of a blind summit quite fast). It is very well appointed with everything you'd need and conveniently located for doing the touristy stuff. It's also a good base for some of the local walks (our favourite has to be the walk down to Heyburn Cove - what a gem). We also liked the short walk (15 mins or so) along the 'Cinder Track' to the Heyburn Wyke Inn. The owner Cathy was lovely and couldn't do enough for us (albeit from a distance as she doesn't live locally). There is no phone signal at the property though a walk up the road towards Ravenscar will get a signal (should you need it). Our main gripe was that the wifi advertised was not fit for purpose - we didn't get a signal for the 2 weeks we were there, efforts were made to get it sorted but unsuccessfully - as we like to research venues, admission prices and opening times etc, this proved quite an inconvenience. Still, this is a lovely place to visit and we would definitely like to return - I just hope the wifi is sorted by then.
