Idyllic Location with Style
An isolated location adjacent to the reservoir with all the mod-cons. Stave cottage is part of 3 holiday cottages that have been tastefully converted from a farmhouse, barn and stables. Stave Cottage is the old stables and has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Everything is new as they have only recently been completed. We stayed as 2 couples and the place was very inviting from the moment we arrived. The central heating works well and the log burner is excellent. The beds are so comfortable. On arrival there was a picnic hamper stuffed with goodies that were much appreciated but very fattening. There are many Pros to staying in Stave Cottage and just a couple of suggestion Cons The Cons first (and these are just suggestions) Although the kitchen is fully equipped it would have been great to have had a couple of plastic bowls to use in the microwave. There needs to also be some melamine/plastic glasses to use in the hot tub. The bedrooms would benefit from a small wardrobe as the only hanging space is on the back of the door. Not having a dinning table makes eating a little less romantic as you have to squeeze around the breakfast bar meaning you eat next to the sink. Very social but not ideal. Maybe a coffee table would also benefit for playing board games. A couple of cushions for the outdoor chairs. A bag of kindling alongside the firestarters would be helpful. These are all minor things but may help. The Pros: There are too many to mention but the location is fantastic. Almost everything you need is provided and the hamper was a great unexpected pleasure. Everything is tastefully decorated and well finished with great beds. The showers are powerful and the water hot and plentiful. Having an integrated dishwasher made life easy. The hot tub can be a little difficult to light and takes a while to heat up but is worth the effort. The views are spectacular and as a location to base yourself for the surrounding areas it is ideal. We loved the place and would return in a heartbeat. Owners, you have done yourself proud.
