The ruins of Rufus Castle stand on the edge of a precipitous cliff above Church Ope Cove on the south-east coast of the Isle of Portland. It was captured by Robert of Gloucester in 1142 and rebuilt during the 15th century. An octagonal tower, bridge, and archway still stand.
