A Benedictine house established around 1141 by Maurice de Londres (Maurice of London), whose tomb is in the south transept. The 12th century nave of the priory now serves as the parish church. Some of the former monastic buildings are now in private hands. Church: A restored Priory church with a Saxon font. Founded by St Madoc in 6th century, the church was rebuilt in the 13th century, then restored in the 1800's. A 6th century stone, c7th century boundary marker, and Norman font are in the interior.
