Tompot Cottage is a charming, cosy, Grade II listed, Portland stone fisherman's cottage in Chiswell, on the Isle of Portland, just across the road from Chesil Cove and the beach. Dating from around 1650, it has a wealth of character features and provides comfortable accommodation for six persons. There is a suntrap front garden and a small, fully enclosed rear courtyard, accessed through the cottage.

On the ground floor is the living/dining area, with LCD TV and a well equipped kitchen to the rear. On the first floor is a twin bedroom and large bathroom with separate bath and shower cubicle; on the top floor is another twin bedroom and one double bedroom. All rooms have fully controllable, electric heating.

Domestic hot water is supplied by a timed, immersion heater whilst the shower has its own 'on-demand' supply at all times. Gas, electricity, water and all bed linen is included in the price and beds are made up ready for arrival (please note towels are not supplied). Please note, the layout of this listed building renders it unsuitable for infants and young children aged under 24 months and for those with limited mobility through permanent or temporary disablement, illness, accident or age.

Smoking and vaping are not allowed in the cottage; pets are not accepted. The cottage is an excellent base for exploring South Dorset's coast and countryside, situated in the heart of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site just across the road from the South West Coast Path. Historic Portland offers scenic coastal walks, hidden coves and stunning views, whilst the nearby town of Weymouth offers lively nightlife, high street shops, a sweeping sandy beach and a varied calendar of events throughout the year.

Portland offers world class water sports (sailing, SCUBA, swimming, kayaking, kitesurfing, windsurfing, and more), cycling (mtb and road), walking, rock climbing and many other outdoor activities. Portland Harbour and WPNSA (National Sailing Academy) are a level walk away and the cottage is situated just off Cycle Route 26, with mountain biking and road cycling to be had on Portland itself or further afield in the Dorset countryside, accessed by an extensive network of cycle ways. There are local shops, takeaways and restaurants close by, eg Balti Island round the corner; The Cove House Inn and Quiddles on the esplanade; Chesil Chippie in Victoria Square and the Boat That Rocks by Portland Harbour.

There is a small free car park in Brandy Row opposite and parking bays by the entrance to the esplanade, otherwise on-street. Weymouth Train station is 4 miles away - the cottage is easily be reached by taxi or bus from there (frequent, regular buses run around and between Portland, Weymouth and Dorchester, with daily and weekly tickets also available). In high season bookings are on a weekly basis from Friday to Friday.

Short breaks in mid and low seasons are subject to availability, please contact the owner for details.
