In the overgrown churchyard of the tiny village of Derwen stands one of the finest medieval monuments in Wales; a late 15th or early 16th century preaching cross. The cross stands two-tiered stone plinth, and is composed of a decorated octagonal shaft topped by a square cross-head with Biblical scenes under canopies on each face. The cross stands almost 15 feet high and is highly decorated.
Derwen St Mary's Church is a lovely little country church, looked after by the Friends of Friendless Churches, who stepped forward in 2001 after St Mary's was declared redundant. This Grade-I listed building is set on a steep sided hill, looking out over the valley of the Clwyd.

This historic church stands near the imposing ruin of Grosmont Castle. It is a large church built at roughly the same time as the castle, and it retains much of its 13th century character. St Nicholas is built on a cruciform plan with an impressive central tower and spire. Though much of the church was rebuilt in the Victorian period, the aisled nave is relatively intact, with an spacious medieval interior.
Well-preserved medieval church (listed building) of national architectural interest. A circular walled churchyard with outstanding examples of ancient managed yew trees is of particular interest.
