stunning views
Stayed here 2nd sept-9th sept, had reservations after reading a previous review, yes the place needs a bit of TLC which the owner told me was due shortly, this did not in any way affect a wonderful stay with views to die for and a beach front that extends as far as the eye can see, it is a dog walkers paradise and the bird life feeding on the edges of the sea have to be seen to believe.Found the property cleaned to a decent standard and the patio area acceptable and a great place to sit out and watch the birds. The lane leading down to the property is very narrow and parking a bit tight, also getting out at the top of the lane is dangerous with a blind bend to your left, however with care we managed with a large 4x4 ! I would not recommend for a novice driver, this is what you expect for a secluded property.

Disappointed
Had very high expectations but sadly disappointed Wonderful location but the property has been neglected internally and externally. It's tired, worn and a little dilapidated. The freezer compartment of the fridge was unusable and the oven's temperature gauge was none existent- totally worn away. There were no instruction manuals for any of the electrical utilities. There were a number of faults - a poorly fitted(difficult to close) window & blown glass in some of the panes. This obstructed some of the views. Not very clean. A plus was that though 'tired looking the sofa and chairs were comfy which was nice after long walks and for reading, watching TV. Outside, whilst the drive seems big it's not easy to manoeuvre in and out of the property. The grounds themselves are untidy and in need of some maintenance. The welcome chocolates & wine were a nice touch and Amy the owner seems very nice and was very apologetic about the window which makes me sad to write such a poor review. Charging £1700 for the week though I think is way above what this standard of property is worth. We weren?t really comfortable so we left after 4 days into a 7 day break. With some TLC/a rebuild this property could be spectacular. I'm not demanding and happy with basic but stuff has to work, be safe & be clean. It gives me no pleasure leaving this review but it's why reviews exist - to share both the good and not so good so people can make better informed choices. Would I stay again, even at a lower price? No.

Wonderful location
Driftwood Cottage is at the end of a very narrow lane which ends at the beach. Absolutely wonderful, peaceful and stunning views across Morecambe Bay. Loved watching the tide come in and go out, listening to the birds circling above. Only the occasional dog walker. The dogs were an absolute joy to watch as, once off the lead, they ran round and paddled and were obviously having lots of fun. The cottage is very understated but gorgeous. The sofas and chairs in the lounge area very comfortable. There is a tv, but we spent most of the time soaking up those views. There are 3 bedrooms and our bed was very comfortable. Kitchen is compact but has everything you need including a dishwasher and a microwave. Only 2 of us so we did the washing up the old fashioned way. I cooked from scratch most evenings but there are lots of local eateries nearby. Sitting on the patio it felt like it was our own private beach-heaven. Will we go back. I do hope so if we can ever get booked in as it is a very popular cottage.

LOVELY LOCATION
The location for the cottage is excellent. You couldn't be any closer to the beach. We had a lovely week in the cottage and our dog loved it. The cottage is lovely and clean and well equipped. Lovely long walks on the beach tired our dog out. Communication with our host was good. We had some fantastic sunrises during out stay.
