The Corris railway was one of Wale's busiest narrow guage (2' 3")
lines, carrying the product of this small village's slate quarry to
Machynlleth. The railway closed in 1948, but it has now reopened to
passengers (details at the website). The history of the line lives on
in the museum, chocked full of memorabilia, including old photos. See

Dedicated to the preservation of the internal combustion engine in industry
and agriculture. A working museum open all year round with large engines
running daily. The collection covers early gas engines through to gas
turbines but with the emphasis on diesel power from the 1920s to the
