The Story Behind the Images
We started BritainExpress.com almost 20 years ago. Over the following 2 decades, our family have explored the UK from Orkney to Land's End, East Anglia to Ardnamurchan and all points in between.
Over that time we've taken roughly 300,000 images while exploring some of the most beautiful, historic, and intriguing places in Britain. We want to make our favourite images available to you, our readers, and share our love of Britain and some of the wonderful places we've had a chance to enjoy.
Though we travel as a family, all the photos in the collection are taken by David Ross, editor of Britain Express and award-winning photographer. David's work has graced magazine covers, calendars, even the cover of a biscuit tin! Yum.
In 2018 David won the Historic Photographer of the Year Award (Ancient History) for his image of Callanish Stone Circle on the Isle of Lewis. You can get a print of David's award-winning photo for your own home.
Image Collections
Image collections cover some of the most scenic and historic locations in Britain. We intend to keep adding images until we've covered every English county, every Welsh region and every part of Scotland. That's going to take some time, but we'll get there.
