Picnic in an English Country Garden
What could be more English than a picnic in a beautiful country garden? Now visitors to Compton Acres, one of the country’s finest privately owned gardens, can create their own picnic hamper and dine alfresco in style. Compton Acres is located in Poole, Dorset, and comprises ten acres of horticultural delights with spectacular views over Poole Harbour, one of the world’s largest natural harbours. Compton Acres is inviting people to select their meals from its Sorridi delicatessen, including a range by Italian TV chef Antonio Carluccio. Also available is bread baked on the premises, a variety of hams, sausages, olives, patés and mushrooms.
The completed hampers can be enjoyed in designated picnic areas – including the garden’s wooded valley. Cost varies but baguettes start at £2.95 and wine at £8.95 per bottle. Compton Acres, which is open daily (admission £5.95 adult, £3.95 child) features Italian and Japanese gardens, craft shops, restaurants, a model railway and regular events.
