Long Burgh Barrow is a Neolithic burial mound immediately west of Alfriston village, on the South Downs Way long-distance trail. At 56m long it is one of the largest barrows in Sussex. The barrow was probably erected between 3400 and 2400 BCE.

The Long Man of Wilmington is an enigmatic figure carved into the northern slope of Windover Hill, south of Wilmington village. Some historians think it may depict a prehistoric warrior god, but no one knows for certain when it was carved or why. The hill figure stands just off the South Downs Way.
