Tarbert Castle

 photo, Tarbert Castle

The crumbling walls of Tarbert Castle stand on a high hill overlooking the harbour of Tarbert, on a narrow neck of land between the Kintyre peninsula and Knapdale. The earliest construction here dates to at least the 13th century, but the ruined structure we see today dates to 1494, when James IV visited the area.
