Tattershall Castle photo, Tattershall Castle

Tattershall Castle, Lincolnshire, was one of the first major buildings in England to be constructed of the now ubiquitous red brick. It was built by Ralph Cromwell, the powerful Lord Treasurer of England, in 1440, who also rebuilt the wonderful parish church next to the castle.
