The historic waterfront area of Lincoln marks the point where the Roman Fossdyke meets the River Witham to link Lincoln to the sea. There are enjoyable trails around the Pool area, which is home to a colony of mute swans. Near Brayside is the 15th-century inn known as the Witch and Wardrobe, which, legends tell us, is haunted by a poltergeist and a pair of star-crossed lovers.
