Dunskey Castle

 photo, Dunskey Castle

This ruined 16th century tower house stands in a marvelous clifftop position just south of Portpatrick, near Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway. We do not know when the first fortification was built here, but a medieval castle was destroyed in 1489, and the present castle was erected around 1510. There is no access to the interior, as the walls are in a parlous state, but what a location!
