The Story Behind the Image - Cul Mor and Cam Loch, Sutherland
Elphin is a beautifully situated village on Cam Loch north of Ullapool in Sutherland.
I was on my way north to the holiday cottage I was renting in Assynt after a wonderful excursion to photograph Stac Polly, in Coigach. I was driving along the road through Elphin on a gorgeous evening in autumn.
It was so warm and inviting I had the window rolled down on my car; not something you can do often in Sutherland!
I was so struck by the beautiful late-evening light that I found a place to pull over and walked down to the loch shore. I found an old fence leading into the water that seemed to point towards the distant peak of Cul Mor. Is it any wonder I love the Highlands?
