Accommodation Description:

Warm comfortable very quiet traditional slate built family home with a nice sunny garden. Very close to the village centre and railway station but with views of the Lakeland fells from the front of the house. Perfect base for exploring the Lake District.

We serve a continental style breakfast AT 8:30am but if required a nice restaurant only 50m away opens FROM 8:30am untill 11:00am - for a reasonably priced and very nice Full English Breakfast.(available from June onwards)

College House is a non-smoking spacious Victorian family home that offers a warm and friendly welcome to all. Set in its own lovely garden in a quiet area close to the village centre and railway station. The front rooms (Room 2 -1st floor + room 4 - 2nd floor) face West and have a view of the fells and catch those lovely sunsets over the Langdale Pikes.

The rear East facing room (Room 3 - 2nd floor) is a lovely room but with very limited rooftop views however it is the first to catch the morning sun. Although we are very close to the village centre all the rooms are very quiet and invariably our guests are surprised how well they sleep here. All rooms have en suite facilities plus flat screen colour TV with DVD (no DVD in room 4) hair dryer tea/coffee making facilities and full central heating.

Wi-Fi and dLAN are also included (please ask on arrival if a dLAN connector is required). There are plenty of interesting local guides maps books and fresh flowers with a nice selection of prints from three generations of the Heaton Cooper family in the entrance hall. We have a lovely comfortable guests sitting room with large flat screen TV.

It is however usually used during bad weather as somewhere to sit and read or play chess in a peaceful atmosphere with the TV turned off. Outside our mature private garden with its two patios and garden furniture catch the sun (when available!!) from breakfast until late afternoon. A lovely place to relax with a bottle of wine on a summers evening.

Frank your host can will arrange local minibus tours hire of mountain bikes or horse riding facilities and pass on her extensive knowledge and advise on all the local walks and areas of interest. Off-road car parking spaces are available at the rear of the property
