Abbeys and Monasteries in Oxfordshire

The ruins of 12th-century Godstow Abbey stand on the west bank of the River Thames just north of Oxford. Rosamund de Clifford, the mistress of King Henry II, was buried at Godstow in 1176, and her ghost is said to haunt the abbey ruins.
