Bolingbroke Castle photo, Bolingbroke Castle

Bolingbroke Castle is best known as the birthplace of Henry IV. It was built in 1230 by the Earl of Chester and Lincoln, and later owned by John of Gaunt. The castle was slighted by Parliament during the Civil War and today is a roofless ruin.
